Root Galaxy S II Skyrocket running on ICS 4.0.3 Firmware – How to

The ice cream sandwich fever has not subsided yet but getting hotter each day. Samsung and other several carriers started to roll out ics for the most favorite of many the “Samsung Galaxy SII” line up and the first device to hit up with the update was original, international version of the SGSII .There are several devices which get leaked ics and same is the case with Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. For those who have already updated their Galaxy SII Skyrocket with the leak 4.0.3 ICS firmware can now root their devices and those who want to update their devices with the leak update can check out here.

There are some pre-requisites before you start to root your device, let’s follow them first:-

  • Back up all your data available in your device so in case anything goes awry. To back up the device data you can check our article on how-to-back-up-android-device-data-before-firmware-update
  • Make sure that device has minimum 50% battery life so that it should not interrupt the rooting process.
  • Ensure that you have disabled the Security Suites, Firewall Tools along with the PC tools as this software’s can interrupt your updating process.
  • Enabled the USB debugging mode by following “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

  • Download Superuser file on your computer, connect your device to your pc via usb cable and place the downloaded file in your device SD Card.
  • Now de-attach your device from pc and turn off your device to enter in recovery mode.
  • To enter in recovery mode press Volume Up Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
  • Now select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the downloaded Superuser Zip file which you place in the sd card. Navigate the screen via vol up and vol down keys.
  • After you select the file the process will begin and once it is completed you will see the recovery screen. Now select “++++ Go Back ++++” and then select of “reboot system now”.
  • Just in case, if you cannot see the home-screen after few minutes of restart, then re-insert the battery.

Congratulations, you are rooted.
