How to Update Galaxy S2 to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Although UK Samsung has already confirmed on Twitter that the official upgrade is in the plans to update this company’s super phone Galaxy S 2 to the newest Android version, at 4.0 titled as the Ice Cream Sandwich, we already knew that we are having it earlier than its official model. Compatibility:

Instructions Pre-installation:

  1. You must backup your important data and your applications- contacts, bookmarks, APN’s (internet settings), SMS, etc.  The backup guide will assist you.
  2. When you have the PC software Samsung Kies installed, you must uninstall it first due to may be interrupt its flashing process. When you have installed it for the drivers sake that otherwise were not working well, ensure that you exit completely prior to starting the method below.

Guide to Update Galaxy S2 in with Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Android 4.0:

You can have the procedure for installation along recovery just after you have downloaded and then transferred the file Android 4.0 in to the Phone SD Card internal. Steps

1) You must download the file Android 4.0(custom ROM). The newest version that is available right now is the Alpha 7. You must download it from here (direct link). (You may verify and download the newest version of the ROM here and then you download it to continue the steps mentioned below in order to successfully flash it with no problems).

2) There is a need to have ClockworkMord Recovery installed in your i9100 Galaxy SII.  When you do not have it, then do this:

  • You must install XXXKH3
  • Then install and root the ClockworkMod Recovery in XXXKH3 .

3) You need also to transfer the file Android 4.0 you have downloaded in Step no 1 above to the Phone’s SD card internal. Remember the location wherein you have transferred it- you are going to need it in the step 8 an 10 below.
4) Then disconnect the device along the computer and must be power off. Just wait for six to seven seconds for the power off to be completed.
5) And boot in its recovery mode. Then hold and press the 3 buttons together then until the showing up of the Samsung’s screen: Volume UP+Home+Power. The phone will then boot into the CWM Recovery. Volume keys must be used to up and down scroll between options then home key/power to choose an option.
6) Data and Cache Wipe System:

  • Go to ‘mounts & storage’ at the recovery
  • Choose ‘format/system’ to wipe the system. Select ‘Yes-Format’ in the screen next.
  • Choose the ‘format/data to wipe the data. Select ‘Yes-format’ in the screen next.
  • Choose ‘format/cache’ to wipe cache. Select ‘Yes-Format’ on the screen next.
  • Choose ‘Go Back’ in the bottom in order to return to the main menu’s recovery.

7) Now then, choose ‘install zip from the SD card’. Then select the ‘choose zip along the SD Card’. Then, you browse within the SD Card and choose the file Android 4.0 that you have downloaded on step 1 and have transferred in the above step 3.
8) Then this can flash the files required in your phone then will have your phone rebooted into the recovery again. This is lightly different recovery. You have to flash the file Android 4.0 again.
9) Choose again the ‘install zip along the SD card’ and then choose ‘Select zip along the SD card).  You must browse within the SD card and choose the file Android 4.0 that you have downloaded in step and then transferred in the above step 3 as you have done above.
10) At this time the custom ROM Android 4.0 will actually be then installed/flashed.
11) Once the flashing is finished, and then you return and reboot the Galaxy SII by choosing the ‘reboot the system now’.
12) The phone must properly boot up, just wait for five to ten minutes.  Hold and press together the Volume Up+Home+Power Keys in order to boot in a recovery mode.
13) You must perform this in whatever screen that you are on-there is no need to pull out the battery or to switch it off or anything. Just boot it into the recovery along your latest screen, no matter what it is. Then just follow steps six to twelve. The phone must properly boot up next time.

Then you have already the most expected version of the Android 4.0, the Ice Cream Sandwich, right into your Galaxy S2.
