Updating Motorola Defy with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware

If you own a Motorola Defy and you love your phone then you will love it even more if you update it with the Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware.   • Once you update your Motorola Defy with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware, all your data from phone memory will be lost. That’s why it’s very important that you take a backup of all your important data.
  • The contact list of your phone can be synchronized with the Google server with Android sync function available in every Android smart phone.
  • To take back up of your messages, use SMS back up tools. They can save your messages and you can again restore it when needed.

Procedure to update the phone

  • Download the zip file for Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware in your computer. Connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable of the phone. Copy the zip file in the SD memory card of your phone.
  • To update your Motorola Defy with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware, you must download an app named 2ndInit Recovery Installer. It can be found in the Android Marketplace. Install the app in your phone.
  • Enter the recovery mode of your phone once again. Choose the clear cache option once again. Now find the option that says install Zip from SD card. It will show a list of zip files from your phones SD memory card. Choose the zip file that you have copied from your computer. It will update the phone with the OS.
  • Reboot your Motorola Defy and it will start updated with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware. Now enjoy the phone with maximum stability.

    Is this an official release ? Will my loose warrenty on my new phone Motorola defy once I upgrade? Is there any improvement in battery life once you upgrade to gingerbread ?
