Galaxy Nexus Volume Bug fixed with an OTA update – Update Manually

I guess all of you have heard about the volume bug in Galaxy Nexus, mostly the US users has been experiencing this issue a lot. But as promised by Google/Samsung; the OTA has rolled over to fix this issue. And I am surprised, I thought that it would take a long time to fix it but they did it so soon huh?? After-all such big issues in the most awaited smartphone were very disappointing to all.

Many of the Nexus users reports that the update has arrived on their handsets. The 1MB file is updating the Nexus from build ITL41D to ITL41F, but the OS Version is still 4.0 It seems that they have only fixed the terrible bug. Anyways, its good to have the solved bug now. Big Thanks to Google/Samsung by all the users.

If you have also experienced this volume bug just go to Settings > About phone > System updates and get your phone rid out of that volume bug. And not everyone has received the OTA update so here is the way to manually update it. Have a look

  • First you have to download the OTA package and ClockWorkMod recovery.  And keep both these files on your computer desktop.
  • You must OEM unlock your Galaxy Nexus bootloader before this .And we are awaring you that this wipes out your phone. So hopefully you’ve backed up already.
  • Copy the OTA package above to the /sdcard folder on your device.
  • To make the procedure trouble free place the ClockWorkMod file in the same folder you have fastboot in on your computer and Rename it to cwm.img
  • Now you have to reboot your Galaxy Nexus to bootloader mode by holding volume up and volume down, then press power.
  • Plug your phone into your computer, and open a command prompt or terminal.  Navigate to the folder with fastboot and the cwm.img inside it.
  • Type the followingcommand in the command prompt:
fastboot-windows.exe boot cwm.img
  • Flash a zip file by using ClockWorkMod recovery menu from the SD card, and choose the OTA zip file you downloaded earlier.
