Android 2.3 Gingerbread rolled out for Samsung Droid Charge – How to update it

So what if it is rolling after a day it was supposed to rolled out ? At last Droid Charge users are getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update.The update is for its 2nd LTE capable handset. The new firmware update has  new build number i510.EP4 and comes with fixes and enhancements.

Enhancements:

  • Download Manager App
  • In App and Power Management Details you can see the Running” tab which displays a list of active applications and the storage and memory being used by each.
  • Improved Word Selection and Copy Functionality by help of pressing  hold
  • New User Interface and Color Scheme
  • In Security, Encryption for Device and SD card has been added.
  • Updated Calendar Options:- You can see the events time in your home time zone while traveling and can dismiss individual reminders without disturbing others.
  • Call Features:- Pause” , “Wait” and “Password is added and the vibration alert intensity is also increased.
  • Email, Messaging and Data :- Signature in Messaging, Passwords for Hotspot-WLAN and eml attachments from Outlook email.

Device Features

  • Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA) has been added.
  • The volume of the Low Battery Notification sound has been reduced.

 

The  device features, applications and software have been improved are as follows :Audio Output, Bluetooth®, Camera, Data Connectivity, Data Usage App, Email Client, EAS Email and Calendar syncing, GPS, HDMI Output, SMS / MMS Messaging, Visual Voice Mail, Web Browser,Video on Demand

Steps to update Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Samsung Droid Charge:-

1) If you have received the  notification just Click on Install now. If anyhow you don’t want to update it now click on Install Later and you,ll get back to your home screen and it will notify you after every 30 minutes until you update it. For more info on this update you can click on More Info and then update you device.

2)After receving the system update notification you can manually install it. Step ahead to  “Home” > “Applications” > “Settings” > “About Device” > “System updates”. Press “Restart & install”. After this the device will power off and restart and the procedure will continue.

3) After your device is power on again after restart  you will see the following screen:-

And thats it you are happily installed with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your Samsung Droid Charge !!
