Install Android SDK without using Internet [How to]

All those who want to use Android SDK to create applications for the Android platform can do it effortlessly. It is just a matter of getting the offline installer over hard disk or pen drive. After that, Android SDK can be installed easily over PC/Laptop.  (It is necessary to get the correct version depending upon the platform being used over PC i.e. the versions/formats will be different for MAC and Windows and Linux)

Steps to download and install SDK Manager:

Follow the instructions stated below:

  • You will have to download SDK Manager compatible with your operating system platform.
  •  Visit “http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml”  then press Ctrl+F  to search any (depending upon your preferred platform)
    • windows.zip
    • macosx.zip
    • linux.zip
  • Now, search until you find the appropriate version. Then copy the content between <sdk:url> and </sdk:url>.
  • Then, navigate to http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/ + what you copied. Assuming that you are a windows user then something like >>  http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/ android-2.0_r01-windows.zip. Download it!
  • Now, at this stage you will have two file i.e. the download manager and the Zip file.
  • Now extract the content of the download manger to a separate folder over computer.
  • Then extract the Zip file to a separate folder
  • Now it is the time to merge them both by copying the content of download manager to the extracted content   of the zip file.
  • Wait for transfer to complete.

The offline installation package is now ready.

Follow the instructions:

  • Rest of the process is quite simple task. Visit the merged folder to execute android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\SDK Setup.exe
  • Go to virtual devices and just click on New to make a new Android Device
  • Now you can see a new window pop-up with options to select name for device, set the size for the SD Card, choose target, choose the skin etc.
  • All you require to merely click on the Start button to launch and use the virtual android.

So this was how to created offline-installation-packages for installing the Android SDK without using Internet. It is recommended to update the SDK.
