Updating the Samsung galaxy i900 with CyanogenMod 7.0.1 Firmware

If you have a Samsung galaxy i900 then you can make it work even better by updating with CyanogenMod 7.0.1. Let me tell you how to do that.Things to do before the update procedure

  • After doing this, your phone will loose the warranty. If you face any problem then un-root it to get back warranty.
  • To save data from your phone, you must take back up of everything of your phone. Back up using proper software programs.
  • Make sure that your PC has the latest version of OS. Install KIES 2 for automatic installation of the drivers.
  • Your Samsung galaxy i900 should have a full battery life so that it doesn’t turn off in the middle of the procedure.
  • All your phone settings including the internet settings will be lost. Note down the settings clearly for resenting later.
  • If you don’t want to ruin your phone when updating with CyanogenMod 7.0.1 then make sure that you follow all the instructions carefully.

Root your Samsung galaxy i900 and install Clock Work Mod Recovery    

  • It’s important that you root your phone and install Clock Work Mod Recovery before proceding to the updating process.
  • Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 in your computer first. Download hardcore Speed Mod kernel and the ClockworkMod recovery.
  • Turn off the Samsung galaxy i900. Turn it on in download mode by pressing Home Key and the Volume Down button together while turning on the phone.
  • Run the zadig.exe from the downloaded files. You will find a menu and from that you will have to select Options and then List all Devices.
  • Find Samsung USB Composite Device from the dropdown menu now. Select the option for installing the driver. If you get a warning window then select Install This Driver Anyway button.
  • Now unzip the Hardcore’s Speedmod and run Heimdall Frontend. It’s important that you do this in order to update your phone with CyanogenMod 7.0.1.
  • Select downloaded kernel and when it’s done, turn off your Samsung galaxy i900. Turn it on in download mode again.
  • Now from Heimdall Frontend window select Start and the kernel will be transferred in your phone. When done, the phone will restart automatically.
  • Once the Clock Work Mod Recovery is installed, select the Root option from advance settings. Your phone will be rooted and ready to be updated with CyanogenMod 7.0.1.

Procedure to update the phone with CyanogenMod 7.0.1

  • Run ROM manager of your Samsung galaxy  i900 and select the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery option and from that select ClockworkMod 2.x.
  • Select download ROM option from ROM manager. After that, select Cyanogen Mod for installing the latest version. Tick the Google Apps option for keeping the default Google apps.
  • Once it’s downloaded in your Samsung galaxy i900, select Backup existing ROM and Wipe Data and Clear Cache options. This clears all the cache of your last system.
  • The phone will restart and you will have to install the CyanogenMod 7.0.1.
  • Run the ROM Manager and select the option FlashClockworkMod Recovery. After that select ClockworkMod 3.x and press ok. Your Samsung galaxy i900 is now updated with CyanogenMod 7.0.1.
