Updating Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 to Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware

The Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 is one of the best Android smart phones available in the market. If you have this phone then you will be happy to know that you can now make it even better by updating the OS to Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware. It will allow you to use the phone with flexibility.

Things to do before updating

  • The most important thing to do is to root the phone first. Once you root the phone, it will be ready to be updated with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware.
  • Take back up for everything from the phone memory of your Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997. You can sync your contact list with the Google server in order to keep them safe for future. Use any good SMS back up and restore app for taking back ups of all your important messages from the phone. Move the media files from the phone memory to the SD memory card.
  • The internet setting of your phone can be written some place safe and then re entered when the updating is completed.
  • You need a PC in order to update your Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 with the Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware. Make sure that the PC has Windows XP or higher in it. Turn off the antivirus program of you PC for a smooth updating process. Also, make sure that you have updated the USB deriver of your PC.

The process to update Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 to Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware

  • Download the zip file of Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware from the internet. Extract the files from the zip and save them in your desktop. It will be easier to locate them from the desktop.
  • There will be four files in that zip file. You will find a file named Odin from the extracted files. A new window will open in front of you. Leave it that way for now.
  • You now need to turn your Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 on in the download mode. For that you need to take the battery out of the phone first and then put it back again while holding both the volume buttons together.
  • Take the phone and connect it with the PC now by using your phone’s USB cable. The Odin will indicate as soon as the phone is connected to the PC. If the Odin is not ready then wait foe few minutes for it to load all the loaded drivers.
  • Find the tab named PDA from the Odin. It will ask you to load a file in order to update your Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware. Locate the file named I997UCKI4-Homebinary.tar.md5 from the extracted files and load it.
  • With no other settings changed, click the Start button from the Odin. It will start to update your phone with Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware. The updating process will be complete within 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Once the process is finished, it will be restarted automatically. Enter the recovery mode of your phone and clear the cache of the previous OS.

The Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G I997 is now updated to Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware and ready to be used.

    I did that to my phone than work fine but the touch sensitive not very good anymore. it hard to play around with even i change the setting. in addition to that, the first thing you see when you start the phone is the screen have color see to be crank but it will show as galaxy s phone. i like their idea but i have issue with the mail, fix after reset and clean the previous cash, and another thing is the sensitive of the screen is not work well. it not as sensitive as it was with 2.2
