Install Ice Cream Sandwich on any Gingerbread Device with PhoenixLauncher

Almost every android device is getting ice cream sandwich but that could take a while and I know most of us cant wait for the official ics launch for our devices.  Unfortunately the list is too long of the devices that don’t havereceived ics already and most are using cyanogen mods or leak ics to enjoy.

But no more wait now, as xda member andy572 has come up with a new idea to get you taste of ics in the form of Launcher named PhoenixLauncher. Any device running on gingerbread is compatible with the launcher, gives you ICS Goodness without waiting for OEMs to release it. Root user can use this launcher which is the unique part because other launcher’s don’t requires root.

The PhoenixLauncher comes in both free and paid version. In free version you are limited to default ics dockbar style and 3 homescreen’s only while in paid version you can get 3,5, 7 or 9 homescreen’s ,9 different dockbar styles and few more tweaks. The installation method is a bit complicated, requires you to put app to /system/app before using the launcher for the first time. One thing you have to ensure that your system partition is mounted in read/write mode when moving the app!

I suggest you to use the free version first and if liking it then only move on to the paid version which will cost you $2. The Launcher features also works on non-rooted devices as widgets. Those who are all set to go can fin the instructions, download links and screenshots at the original xda developer thread.
