This discussion is for those people who have recently purchased an Android Smartphone. We all know that Androids are more stylish, advance and feature enriched when compared to previous generation of mobile phones.  USB support is such a feature that goes with the definition of androids phones. In the section below, we will deal with the procedure to enable USB storage on android devices.

Just for the sake of convenience, we have taken Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 to explain the concept. It must be noted that no special software or application will be required throughout the process. The procedure is quite simple and even a novice beginner can easily understand/accomplish that.

Procedure to enable USB storage on android devices

Follow these simple steps:

  • Go to the home screen of your android device
  • Select ‘applications’ from the main screen
  • The next thing would be find ‘settings’ (the name for options might differ across various Smartphones)
  • Then you will need to find ‘USB utilities’. In most of the phones, this option is grouped with Bluetooth Settings, Wi-Fi settings, VPN Settings etc.
  • Under that, you will find ‘Connect Storage to PC’.
  • On selecting, you will be prompted to attach USB cable between Device and PC.
  • After that, you will see an image showing the USB symbol along with an option to ‘Connect USB Storage’. You will require to tap or select that to finish. Now, you can easily transfer/manage data.

After establishing the connection, you can now easily manage your files. The basic operation like copying, moving and deleting are supported in this mode.

Well this was about enabling USB storage on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100. The procedure for other phones will be same or with a little variation. Ones you get some understanding then it will be not a big issue work with a different android device.
