Downgrade HTC Desire HD to 1.32.405.6 OTA Firmware [How to]

For the users of HTC Desire who have updated their phone with the firmware of 1.72 or 1.75. Instead of benefiting this update proved a whole mess. You cannot root the phone with this update. Few rooting attempts ended in permanent bricking of the Smartphone.  All users who desire to root their HTC Desire HD must downgrade first before attempting it. This downgrade is applicable to for users of HTC DESIRE HD who have current versions of the Android as either 1.72 or 1.75 (released in month of December last year)

Prerequisites:

  • please ensure that you have installed the ADB on your Windows OS
  • Also install Htc Sync on your PC/Laptop
  • Then you will need to download Psneuter & Firmware 1.32.405.6.
  • Apart from those, you may also require to download the Miscellaneous Version on your PC/Laptop and extract the contents to a separate folder.

Step by Step Procedure to downgrade HTC Desire HD to 1.32.405.6:

Follow the instructions stated below have a look:

  • First of all, move to “Psneuter” and “Miscellaneous Version” package files to a folder named “platform-tools” in the Android SDK folder.
  • Now, put your HTC Desire HD in the USB Debugging Mode (follow:  “Applications” >> “SETTINGS”  >> “Applications” >> “Development” and after that check the option of “USB Debugging”)
  • Connect the Desire HD to the PC/Laptop via the USB cord and then enter the following commands in command prompt. (maintaining the sequence)

adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell

  • After completing the above step a “#” sign will be coming instead of “$” symbol signifying that the phone has been rooted –temporarily.  Then execute following commands:

/data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.31.405.3

  • Exit

adb reboot bootloader

  • Now, you will need to copy the downloaded firmware 1.32.405.6 to the root of the SD card (not inside any folder and no need to extract the content) of the HTC Desire
  • Now, at the command prompt you have to execute.
  • All you need is to follow the instructions and you are done. The downgrade process is complete.
