Updating Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with Gingerbread 2.3.3 DDJV9 Firmware [How to]

Your Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone can be easily updated with Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware. It will make the phone more stable and customizable. Let me tell you the procedures to follow for the updating.

Things to do before updating

  • You must start with taking a back up of the phone. Once you update the phone with Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware, everything from the phone memory, including contacts and messages, will be lost.
  • Use Google sync to save your contacts in the Google server. After that, use proper tools to back up all your messages.
  • For saving files, move them to the memory card as it will be intact. Save your internet settings by writing it down somewhere safe and enter them again after updating the phone.
  • You need a PC to update your phone. Make sure that you have at least Windows XP in your PC. Keep all the security programs turned off to have a uninterrupted updating process. Make sure that your USB driver is completely updated. Keep the USB cable of the phone with you as you will need it for connecting the phone with PC.
  • Charge the battery of Samsung Galaxy S I9000 completely as you surely don’t want that the phone turns off in the middle of the updating process.
  • For a fluent updating with Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware, remove your SIM and microSD memory card from the phone.

Procedure to update the phone

  • The updating files of Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware and other needed tools can be downloaded together from internet as a zipped file. Download it and extract all files on your desktop.
  • From the extracted files, locate Odin and run it. It will open a new window on your computer. Leave it that way.
  • Your Samsung Galaxy S I9000 must be now turned on in download mode. Turn the phone off first and then turn it on again while holding the Home key and the Volume Down button together.
  • Once the phone starts in download mode, connect it with the PC. Use the USB cable to that. Once you connect it, Odin will turn the ID:COM section yellow and will show you a message saying ADDED.
  • The Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware updating files are needed to be added to Odin now. Click on the respective buttons and add the required file by browsing from the extracted files.
  • Click PDA and add PDA_DDJV9_Sbl.tar.md5. Click Phone and add PHONE_DDJV4.tar.md5. Lastly, click CSC and add CSC_ODDJV9.tar.md5.
  • After doing all these, you will see a Start button that you will have to click. Make sure that you don’t change any default settings of Odin. The process will be completed within 10 minutes. Click PASS when a new window comes in front of you.
  • Your Samsung Galaxy S I9000 will restart after the process is completed. Restart it in recovery mode and select the Wipe data/factory reset option to clear the cache.

The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 is now updated with Gingerbread DDJV9 2.3.3 Firmware and ready to be used.
