Root Motorola Xoom on Honeycomb 3.1 Version [How to]

If you update your Motorola Xoom with the latest Android Honeycomb 3.1 Version then after rooting the tablet then you have to root it again. Let me now tell you the procedure to root the tablet with latest OS update. Follow the steps carefully and make sure that you are using the right model of the tablet as these steps of rooting are for this model only.Things to do before rooting   

  • The tablet should be backed up properly before rooting it because all the data of your tablet will be lost. Back up files by moving them in to the SD memory card. Use Google sync to back up all your contacts from the tablet and then use proper tools to back up all your messages.
  • Your battery should be fully charged as you surely don’t want your tablet to be turned off automatically for low battery power in the middle of the rooting process of your Motorola Xoom.
  • You need your computer to root your tablet that has the latest Honeycomb 3.1 Version. Make sure that the computer has the latest version of Windows with updated USB drivers. Turn off security applications like firewall and antivirus programs foe a smoother procedure. If you are using a laptop computer then be sure that it’s also fully charged.
  • You surely had a Motorola Suit CD with your Motorola Xoom. You must have it installed in your computer in order to root the tablet that’s been updated with Honeycomb 3.1 Version.
  • If something unwanted happens in the middle of the procedure then you will have to start it from the beginning again. Make sure that you go ahead with total concentration.

Procedure to root the tablet

  • Download the WiFi_RootTool_3.1 first and then you must set the Android SDK properly so that your computer works properly with the adb. It’s very important for the rooting.
  • Copy the XOOM_RootTool_3.1.zip fi8le from your computer and then paste it in the root of the SD memory card of your Motorola Xoom. Now boot into the recovery mode of the tablet and then mount your SD memory card by choosing the option for mounting USB storage.
  • Go to the application settings of your Motorola Xoom and turn on the USB Debugging mode. Connect the tablet to your computer now by using the USB cable.
  • Now go to the place where you have stored the adb as you need it to root the tablet if it’s updated with Honeycomb 3.1 Version. Make sure that the following code matches with the right file name. The code is:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-solarnz-XXX-XXX.img
fastboot reboot

  • Once the procedure is started, your tablet with Honeycomb 3.1 Version will restart. When you see the Motorola logo, press the Volume Down button and the tablet will start in recovery mode.
  • Find the install zip from sdcard option and then select the WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip from the list. Select Yes if asked for and the process will start. Once it ends select Reboot System Now and your Motorola Xoom on Honeycomb 3.1 Version will be rooted.
