How to Install Android OS on Windows PC

The famous Android OS from Google is one of the leading and the best Operating system for any mobile. Various mobiles and brands are launching their product containing Android in them and besides them it is a hit for other non- mobile apparatuses as well. Over time the Android app has evolved and gotten better. Seeing the last couple of months we can say that it is the most proffered Operating System making almost 43% of the total market share in the world of mobile Operating Systems.

We may be spending our maximum time on our mobiles yet we can’t undermine the place of a computer in our lives.  Imaging what it would be like to have your computer to come installed with something like Android Operating System. At this point of time where nothing is impossible, even having Computers installed with Android is not a big deal. This can be done by simple device like Live CD / VirtualBox.

Initially the Android-x86 project meant to develop the patches for x86 support to unleash source community but eventually they found out that they could expand their reach beyond patches for x86 support; and extend it to even function in your PCs. Henceforth, the Android for personal computer was also added to the list of  goals to be achieved by Android-x86 project.

Even you can enable Android on your PC without the help of any professional. Simply using the boot provided by any Live CD or a VirtualBox. When a Live CD is concerned, Android Operating System runs via an independent disk without the support from Windows. In case you wish to run OS you Android on your Personal Computer having Windows Operating System being run at the same time it is better to go for installation by VirtualBox. Given below are the guidelines and instructions for the procedures.

Earlier we all came to know how Android runs on PC using Bluestacks App Player, though this procedure is not completely absolute hence for working with the absolute Android Operating System this is advisable.

Running Android on your PC using a Live CD

  • First and foremost you would be required to download CD image (ISO) file using the website of Androidx86. From this file you will get the complete Android OS. Website of Androidx86 contains various diverse versions of Android.
  • Out of the many downloads available on the website many are especially costumed for particular tablets and laptops. Download “generic” version2 to run Android on your desktop computer. Throughout this article we are using Android 2 only.
  •  Once you are done with file download, you will have to burn it to a blank CD / DVD. Programs like ISO Recorder, Image Burn, & Free ISO Burner support burning an ISO file to a CD. It is amazing that the Windows 7 is enabled with a personal disc image burner. Put a blank CD / DVD into disc drive before you start burning that file. Whereas Windows 7 users can simply right-click on ISO file & select “Burn disc image.”
  • After this, start booting using the CD & run Android on your Personal Computer. In case you are unable to boot via CD, try changing the booting sequence from the very BIOS settings.

Running Android on VirtualBox

As in the beginning we told you that Android even runs from VirtualBox which is a famous virtualization package. For this the ISO file is a prerequisite.

  • Run Virtual Box & press on “New” for creating a virtual device. And this very virtual device is what you are going to create for Android. Name this virtual device (Like in our case we named are virtual device Windroid).
  • Choose “Other” via “Operating System” & “Version” drop-down menus.
  • Decide and pick the quantity for the memory you would like to keep aside for your virtual device. The best pick for memory is minimum of 1 gigabyte. Don’t forget that initially it was a smartphone OS, and hence doesn’t require much of memory.
  • Create a fixed-sized storage disk for the virtual machine. It is recommended for the virtual hard disk to be at least 2 gigabytes.
  • Now you just need to set up the virtual machine. Right-click the virtual machine you have just created and select “Start.”
  • After this the setup wizard shall running on its own. Under “Select Installation Media” window, Press “Next” option to move forward.
  • Press the tiny little folder icon this will open a fresh which will allow you to pick the Android Operating System ISO file.

  • Now choose Android CD Image else go for the ISO file for a media source. Finally your virtual device should start running.
