How To Turn Galaxy Nexus Soft keys into Customized Versions or Colors

Perhaps several of you have noticed the new blue sexy soft keys which the Galaxy Nexus is displaying and will ask for guidelines in how this must be done. By no ways was the process hard and yet it will take some time in the initial try. Afteryou got this down, so you may change the soft keys at just minutes then will be testing all of them soon to be able to have that excellent fit just for your own setup.

These instructions that we have gathered from the XDA’s soft key post mod willallow you to make this in your own device and do not need to attach your own self into a computer. And there are several different ways of instructions in the computer-based processes however this one seems to be the easiest way for some of us always at the go. Then let’s get into it!

Instructions:

Note 1 -According to some knowledge, you need to be in the ROM deodexed to be able to do this. And this may not be done in a rooted, stock Nexus. And then, once again, some comments are being claimed to have finished this, and so just go, proceed but at your very own risk when you are not running the custom ROM.

1. Install and download the Root Explorer along the Market.
2. Create the full non Android backup in the recovery, and then you have to reboot your own phone (safety if some instance something might happen).
3.You must download this mod soft key that you like along the XDA thread.
4.Then you open the Root Explorer then navigate into /system/app/, see System UI.apk, long press then select “Extract’. Proceed to this file sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted but ensure that you have the folder that is named SystemUI.
5. When the folder will be there then navigate to the place you have previously downloaded the chosen softkeymod (commonly sdcard/
download) then long click it. Choose ‘Extract all.’ Proceed to sdcard/ speedsoftware/extracted and there will be the folder having this name of this softkeymod which you have just extracted.
6.Press in this folder, then also in the next. Then hit its menu key so then click ‘Multi Select. You must highlight all these images that are included at the file so then choose ‘Copy’ in the bottom. Then navigate back into this SystemUI folder, proceed to SystemUI/res/ drawable-xhdpi then‘Paste’ in here. The command prompt must pop up and will be asking in order to replace these current images. Choose ‘Yes for all’.
7. In some cases, so you can have also to move few icons in the SystemUI/res/drawable-hdpi also. Then you may know when you have finished these, you reboot and that are not all of the keys are well themed. Then go back into the sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted file, to long click the fileSystemUI then choose ‘Create ZIP.’
8.Then you must rename this made SystemUI.zip .apk into your/system/ app file. Then change permissions to this SystemUI.apk to rw-r–r–
9. You must reboot your own Galaxy Nexus (pull its battery out then reboot, which is the necessary step_ then your own softkeys will then be moded!

Note 2 – At step 9, when you begin to find your own phone to be force close prior to changing permissions, so do not ever freak out. You will be able to pull the battery, reboot then proceed into the Root Explorer to be able to adjust in its permissions. And since we have created its backup in the start, we may jump back always into the recovery then revert back into 5 inures prior when we like it.

Here are some screenshots to be able help you all with this process:

You will be able to get various mods soft key in the thread at XDA.

Note 3 – And for those that are asking about these text icons that I will have on GTalk, Gmail, Camera and Phone, you may download them all here. These are simple good text icons which were made with the use of Roboto font then the 200 x 200 background that is transparent. So touse these custom icons, that you have to switch into a launcher which permits for these like the Nova Launcher.
