This discussion is about rooting Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 on Android 2.3.4 XXKG6. This discussion is intended for those people who are already on XXKG6 2.3.4 version of gingerbread. All Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 users must ensure this before moving any further regarding this update. We do not hold any responsibility if something goes wrong with your phone during the rooting process.
To know your current version: Settings >> About Phone >> Firmware Version
If it shows XXKG6 2.3.4 then things are fine else you will need to update to XXKG6 2.3.4 before rooting.
Preps:
Start by creating a backup of all-important data currently on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100. The important information such as APN and others settings (MMS, SMS etc.) must be separately noted somewhere because it will be lost during procedure of rooting and will be required afterwards to make your phone functional.
You will also need to download Gingerbread 2.3.4 XXKG6 Firmware installation available in the form of zip file. Make sure that the file is of correct version and received from a trustworthy source.
Word of caution
Rooting is a like installation/modification of operating system files and must be dealt with priority one seriousness.
- Doing so will blow up warranty cover for your device.
- Make sure that you have installed the latest version of framework on your PC. Also, install the latest version of KIES to support easy devise detection.

- Go to the download and extract that to separate folderol your PC.
- Open the folder and execute Odin.exe
- Switch off your Galaxy S2 GT and set it to download mode. Then connect to computer via USB cable.
- ID:COM box will appear and turn yellow indicating device-detection.
- Under PDA tab select ‘CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG6-v4.1-CWM4.tar’
- Click Start to initiate rooting
In about 10 minutes, the rooting process is likely to complete. After that, you can restore the backup and configure lost settings.
