How to upgrade your Motorola Flipside™ to Android 2.2 Froyo

Awaited from long time, Motorola has finally made the update available for the Motorola Flipside users to update Android 2.2 Froyo. The firmware will get the version 2.159.17 for your device.

Before proceeding to the update steps, you should make a backup to your data, because reset will remove all your data but it will not affect your memory card. And you can restore all your contacts, social networking accounts with the help of MOTOBLUR. You need to login with your existing MOTOBLUR ID and password.

To find your MOTOBLUR id Go to settings > Accounts. The first email id listed is your MOTOBLUR id.

The update will require minimum 40 MB of free space in internal memory and 100 MB free space in External memory.

Check current memory usage for the internal phone storage.

• Go to Menu
• Select Settings
• Then go to SD card & phone storage
• It will display you the internal memory available in the internal memory storage section.

Check current memory usage for the SD card.

• Go to Menu
• Select Settings
• Then go to SD card & phone storage
• It will display you the total memory available in the SD card memory storage section.

Note: – You should have Windows PC support.

Steps: – How to update Android 2.2 Froyo in Motorola Flipside.

• You need USB cable to complete the process.
• You’ll get a notification by Motorola if an update is available once you download the update application and connect your device.
•  If your Motorola flipside is not detected by Motorola Software update, Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development and disable the USB debugging setting.
• Download the software
• You may need at least 200MB of memory available on your computer’s hard drive to store this update.
• Save the file, and double click to install. Once it’s installed connect your phone to your PC via a USB cable. Then follow the instruction on the display.
• The update takes up to 15 minutes to perform. Your device will not be usable for approx 10 minutes while updating.
• Your Motorola Flipside is now updated with Android 2.2 Froyo.
