Applications:

Applications may run at the background and you must control it. To control it you must make use of the Task Manager. And this can be accessed by pulling the Notification bar down. Some apps use settings SYNC but this will lead to battery usage as data traffic is also used. Turn off settings SYNC if not use. SYNC may be configured from the home screen then navigate to Settings> Accounts and Sync. Then turn off data Background for some apps avoidance and to have internet access as it runs at the background.
