Samsung through its low end Android phones provide users with lots of options. Samsung Galaxy 5 i5503 and Samsung Galaxy 551 i5510 are two of such Android phones. Camera: Both these low end phones have no secondary camera but both record videos at rate of 15 frames per second. Galaxy 5 has 2 megapixel camera and 1600 by 1200 pixels maximum resolution. Galaxy 551 features a 3.15 megapixels camera with autofocus and 2048 by 1536 pixels maximum resolution.

Memory: Both phones are supplied with 1GB Micro SD out of box. However since Galaxy 5 only has 170MB of internal memory and Galaxy 551 has 160MB internal memory but both support Micro SD cards, it is advisable for users to buy higher capacity SD cards to backup the internal memory that is small.

Connectivity: Both phones have the 3 HSDPA bands that gives maximum speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. Both have similar latest Wi-Fi bands. Both have GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. Both have USB connectivity and stereo FM radio.

Operating System and User Interface: Both Galaxy 5 and Galaxy 551 have TouchWiz Samsung User Interface over Android. However, Galaxy 5 has an older version of Android 2.3 Éclair while Galaxy 551 runs on Android 2.2 Froyo.

Battery and Processor: Both of these low end devices have 1200mAh battery. Both have almost similar battery performance where Galaxy 5 has 9 hours talk time and 520 hours standby on 2G and Galaxy 521 has 9.5 hours of talk time and 521 hours of standby on 2G.

Both have similar 600 MHz processor although Galaxy 551 with Adreno 200 GPU and MSM7227 chipset from Qualcomm.

Extras: Galaxy 551 has Slideout QWERTY that makes texting and emailing faster and convenient as you get the feel of physical buttons. Galaxy 5 is a full touch-screen.
