NVIDIA Has More Battery Life with Kal-EI quad-core

It was early this year when unveiling and demonstrating  of  the world’s number one mobile processor quad-core at <Mobile World Congress> held in Barcelona” which is the NVIDIA. This came just after the day <Qualcomm paper launched their quad-core Snapdragon S4> (scheduled for 2H2012 publish), so all are very anticipating to find NVIDIA exhibit a working Android quad-core tablet to commit to devices retail apportion this coming year.

At first we were expectant to find <quad-core devices with NVIDIA’Kal-EI> (Tegra 3) program in August. And it was delayed and the launched window was moved to this coming October instead.

Now NIVIDIA has just created a post blog where the company has distributed ‘white papers’ that contains the reason in the change of the date of released. An amazing surprise, <quad-core Kal-EI has 5 coresARM Cortex-A9 >in replacement of the 4 that were expected.

Update: It has been made clear that the <companion core> has been always an important portion in the Kal-EI design from the very first day. But due to competition reasons it has been kept in secret. The reason for this change in the windows release is due in the arrangements of the partners of hardware wherein NVIDIA is functioning for.

The <Companion’Core >

 The four of these cores of CPU were created with 40nm general process of TSMC. And the 5th <companion core”>was created by the use a <special low-power silicon process> that performs apps at less level of statistics.

NVIDIA names this their <Variable Symmetric Multi-processing> (vSM) method. If you wish other details technical, take note of the white paper.15 page.

This is very interesting news, not only because it must greatly improve the life battery in the Android tablets and smartphones. The< companion core> functions at <500 MHz> so it only uses very small power level in standby mode active even while those mobile devices are syncing tweets, email and others.

When the consumers work an app that needs greater power, Kal- EI will switch over at the faster core and give representation in demand.

This does not need any special app or modification of OS, the reason that Android has the <built-in support for multi –core processing> and is enabled to lever the representation of many CPU cores. Patented hardware of NVIDIA and CPU software Management logic continues to monitor workload of CPU to dynamic and automatic enablement and mutilate the <companion core> and the original CPU.

With the addition of the new technology of vSMP , it is necessary to bear in mind that many cores are best for management of power than less cores. The NVIDIA said <quad-core CPU’s >bring less power at the representation level compared to CPU dual core’.

In the process of the similar number in work of   CPU dual-core, 4 -cores may ran at lesser frequency mode and use lesser voltage. This <Coremark benchmark >above displays Kal-EI has reached the same level of performance as CPU dual-core having a lower power of ‘2-3x”.

If four-cores can bend for maximum representation, Kal-EI uses lesser power still than the dual-core CPU.

‘A well known misconception that the CPU multi-core absorbs <greater power than a single- core- CPU> brings out great reduction in life of battery.

Quad-core CPU’s Additional benefits

Kal-El commits to bring lower consumption of power, high presentation per watt, fast web load page times, faster multitask and big gaming quality.

The applications types that are advantage having a processor quad-core  are:

<High quality video editing>
<Image processing>
<Audio/video trans-coding>
<Physics simulations>
<Numerous productivity apps>
<Many forms of location-aware computing>
<Facial recognition>
<3D stereo games and applications>
<Virus scans>
<File compression>

Wrap it Up:

Yes based on the things that are seen, kal-EI will control the contention when the handsets start coming month. This will bring the best performance ever and offer a longer life battery and the best content premium from zone Tegra.

What CPU mobile would you wish in your Android tablet? For me I want a Kal-EI!
