It is not easy to root or customize Motorola and HTC phones like it is for Samsung phones. However, there is a way you can go around this and root the HTC Incredible S so as to unlock its potential. In the next section, we will consider how you can root this device.

But first, you should note:

• That rooting your HTC Incredible S will void its warranty. However, since this is only a temporary root, you will be able to un-root by just restarting the device so as to reinstate the warranty.

Rooting takes two forms; permanent and temporary. It is complex to undo the permanent root but HTC Incredible at the moment can only get the temporary root.

• This tutorial is only applicable to HTC Incredible S and so you should not try it on any other device to avoid bricking your phone.
• You must also be sure that you have enough battery power to complete the rooting process. Battery consumption is at maximum and so you need at least 50% battery power.
• All data that is stored on the phone must be appropriately backed up.

HTC Incredible S rooting procedure

• Download ADB and install it on your PC
• Turn your HTC Incredible S to USD debugging mode by pressing the menu button then settings, applications and development.
• Download rooting package and unzip it and have it at the same place where you installed the ADB.
• Using USB cable, connect your phone to PC.
• Open the command prompt and type cmd and select change directory command.
• Type pushroot then type adb shell/data/local/tmp/getroot
• Type adb shell and tap enter.

Finally, type data/local/tmp/pushroot as soon as you see the # prompt and your HTC Incredible S is rooted for more potential.

As already indicated, this is only temporary root method as a permanent one is not yet out.
