How to Backup Stock Rom on Unrooted Galaxy Nexus

While most of people want to customize their android devices and rooting is the first thing they do, there are still users who don’t want to root their devices and are happy with their stock rom. Everybody know that having a galaxy nexus is a pleasure and rooting or customizing the device without having any knowledge is the daunting thing and can turn your expensive device into a light paperweight. The common question we came across many times is how to back a stock rom on unrooted Galaxy Nexus via custom recovery? Backing up your stock rom can help you in many ways, it might happened that firmware update or stick rom changes can damage the software, so it’s better and recommendable to always create a backup of your stock rom so that you can restore your previous settings.

Actually backing up your stock rom without rooting is pretty easy and it’s as similar as a manual method of applying a stock update. There are few requirements before performing the procedure, let’s see what those are:-

How to make a backup of stock rom on unrooted galaxy nexus:-

  • First you need to plug your device to your pc via USB cable.
  • Now you have to download the custom recovery in the same folder as your fastboot file.
  • Reboot your android device into Bootloader, for that turn off your device and hold vol up + vol down + power key simultaneously or you can do the same by launching a command prompt and type adb reboot Bootloader
  • In Command prompt type fastboot boot xxxxxxx.img where xxxxxxx is the name of the custom recovery you saved.

That’s it. You have now booted your device in custom recovery and now you can create a full backup, restore a backup or wipe your device.
