Despite being an official Gmail client for android supported by Google itself, it also comes with a bunch of small but annoying limitations. One of such limitation is its inability to attach multiple files and limited support for the less known file formats such as .zip files and 7z. For the less popular file formats, like DOC or MP3 files, the official popular Gmail client for android denies from downloading the attachment. Moreover, it also doesn’t allow you to save the downloaded attachments to your specified location on your device internal memory or SD Card.

But the problem can be solved now with the help of a new plugin or app called Gmail Attachment Download; as the name implies the app or plugin allows you to download Gmail attachments in any format and you can save it anywhere on your device internal memory or SD Card. The app will act as a plugin for the official Gmail client, so there is no icon or shortcut for it, hence save the space on your homescreen, which I consider as a best thing. The app is also supported and compatible with other third party email clients as well.

All you have to do is when you came across an attachment file, tap on Save/Preview/Install button and select Gmail Attachment Download when it comes up. This will give you the option to select the exact path where you want the attachment to be saved. Then Click on Save File and that’s it!
