Sony S/P All-in-One Tool – Root UnRoot and Change Region – How to

Sony S and P are definitely the popular and versatile tablets, and as the development for popular device goes on, the already available task finds new ways that been done and redone several times. Usually the new ways include features that are easy to use so the less techy users can also get into modding action and experience the new features which other users are already experiencing. Same, rooting process has been done and redone many times for the Sony S and P tablets, but the new procedure is no exception but has made a little easier for users to get root and other pretty cool features too. XDA Senior Member condi, who previously brought the last root method, has done it again with an all-in-one tool which not only gives the root access but also gives a number of other pretty cool features too.

There are some pre-requisites before you start to root/unroot or use the tool:-

  • Back up all your data available in your device so in case anything goes awry. To back up the device data you can check our article on how-to-back-up-android-device-data-before-firmware-update.
  • On the other hand you can also backup your android device data directly on cloud by inDefend Mobile Backup App.
  • Make sure that device has minimum 50% battery life so that it should not interrupt the rooting process.
  • Ensure that you have disabled the Security Suites, Firewall Tools along with the PC tools as this software’s can interrupt your updating process.
  • Enabled the USB debugging mode by following “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

How to root/unroot, change region or use the tool:-

Main Menu of the Tool:-

  • Root Device – Selecting this option will root your Sony S tablet in one click.
  • Unroot device – Selecting this option, it will delete su, busybox, superuser and all other root things.
  • Region changer – This option will change the additional build.prop values in order to chnage the region so that you can get correct ota update if any.
  • Run ADB Shell – This will run adb shell which is terminal from pc.
  • Reboot device – This option will simply reboot your tablet in normal mode just in one click.

Custom Rom and Flashing Submenu of the Tool:-

  • Create decrypted update.zip – With this option you can easily decrypt official OTA updates, and can make custom rom from it.
  • Add root, “rescue-backdoor”, init.d to decrypted zip – With this option you can add root, “rescue-backdoor”, init.d to decrypted zip
  • Sign decrypted custom-update.zip – With this option you will get a signed modified update
  • Disable recovery update.zip signature-check – This option disables the security check for the update.zip custom ROM firmwares.

Tweaks and Mods Submenu in All-in-one Tool

  • Install “rescue-backdoor” – anti-bootloop protection, gives opportunity to reflash current firmware if something goes wrong with modifying system things.
  • Toggle OTA system updates and notifications – This option lets you to disable update notifications which also can be enabled back
  • Install init.d support – Just push the bash scripts to ‘/system/etc/init.d/’ to get them auto start on device booting.
  • Install gps-fix mod – This option will change gps.conf with modded version to get better and faster signal.
  • Fake as other device – This option allows you to fake your tablet as Acer A500, Motorola XOOM, Galaxy SII, Galaxy TAB so that you can download more apps and games from google play store. ANd to get back to original you have to run it again.
  • [init.d] script] Increase SD/extSD read speeds. – adds init.d script which automatically on boot changes cache value, to get better read speeds
