sharing Wi-Fi 3G 4G with Android HotSpot Tethering

Do you possess an Android? Do you want to make the most of it? Connect all over the world with the World Wide Web? Then you are in luck! This article will tell how to exploit all the resources your Android can offer, the most important being the different ways in which your Android’s internet connection is fully utilized to its optimum potential.

One of the easiest and most efficient way of utilizing your Android is by tethering. Tethering basically is a method to share the internet connection from a mobile phone that has access to the internet. Now the sharing can be done in several ways which are by wires, Bluetooth, infrared, Wi-Fi. Tethering is a common word for ‘wireless hotspot’.

Tethering for Non Rooted Devices:

Is your operating system Android 2.2, Android 2.3 or Honeycomb? Well irrespective of that, you can easily tether your tablet or mobile phone.

Start by following the steps mentioned below to tether-

  • First connect your mobile phone to the PC either by wire (USB cable connection). The USB cable connection is a must as there is no other way for a non rooted device to be connected.
  • After you have completed the first step successfully, go to ‘Home’ and select ‘Menu’.  Then search for the ‘Settings’.
  • In ‘Settings’ find for ‘Wireless and network’. Then select ‘Tethering and Hotspot’.
  • Then check on the USB tethering.
  • Your mobile would be ready for tethering through the USB connection or the Bluetooth connectivity, which ever you have chosen. And this would be shown as a notification at the top of your screen. The tethering stays only as long as both the devices (your PC and android mobile phone) are intact. The moment it is disconnected, the tethering would be lost and disabled.

Tethering for Rooted Devices:

This is quite a cake walk for those whose devices are rooted as they have ad hoc ability which allows them to tether wirelessly, easily.

So now with your rooting device, tethering internet data from Wi-Fi, 3G or any other incoming data network is done easily.

The wireless tethering is very easy and also secure to use on your Android mobile phone. You can not only connect to almost up to 5 devices to a wireless network but also allows you to create your very own network, SSD (Solid State Drive) and WEP encryption.
