Updating HTC EVO 3D with Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware [How to]

The HTC EVO 3D is one of the best Android smart phones available in the market. If you have this phone then you can update it with the Cyanogen Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware. That will increase the usability and the stability of the phone. Before you do that, don’t forget to root your phone. Let me tell you how to do the updating. Make sure that you follow the instruction properly to make sure that the phone is safe.

Things to do before updating

  • Start with taking a back up of your HTC EVO 3D as once you update the phone with Cyanogen Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware, everything from your phone memory will be lost.
  • Copy all the files from phone memory and then move them to the SD memory card. All the files in the memory card will remain intact after the updating process.
  • To save your contact, you must use the Google synchronizing facility of your phone. This will allow you to have your contacts in the Google server and you will be able to have them in your phone by synchronizing it again after you update the phone with Cyanogen Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware.
  • Keep the battery of your HTC EVO 3D fully charged. If your battery is low in charge then the phone may turn off in between the process. Don’t let that happen as that will ruin your phone.
  • For the updating process, you will need to connect the phone to a PC. For that, keep the USB cable with you. The PC should have the latest Windows version. Your antivirus programs may interrupt the process so you must keep it deactivated during the procedure. Make sure that the USB driver is updated.

Installing the update

  • Download the Cyanogen Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware zip file and save that in your computer. You need to install this Cyanogen mod in order to update your phone.
  • Download the Google apps zip file in your computer too and keep it together with the other file.
  • Use the USB cable to connect your HTC EVO 3D with the computer where you have those files. Once the phone is connected, copy those two downloaded files to the internal memory of your phone.
  • Enter the recovery mode of your phone. You will find a list with many options. Select the option that says backup and restore. Once it’s done, select the Wipe cache partition option that you will find under the Wipe data / factory reset option. The caches of the phone will be deleted.
  • Find the option that says install zip from SD Card. Once you select it, there will be other options. Select the one that says Choose zip from SD Card. You will see many zip files that are available in your phone. Locate the 7.1.0-RC1-Supersonic-HTCEvo3D.zip file from that list. You will have to select the Google Apps Zip file too.

Once the process is completed, select the Go Back option. Now select Reboot System Now and your HTC EVO 3D will restart. The process in now completed.
