Comparing HTC EVO 3D & LG Optimus 3D-Battlemodo

There are only two current 3D mobile phones available in the country of Australia, that is- the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC EVO 3D. These two mobile phones were proclaimed by the Australian Market at almost the exact time though our hands-on has disclosed that one is superior over the other in usability and specs.

These two free-glasses 3D phones are the first ones to come and influence the smartphone global market and it is to the benefits of the consumers that at least 2 phones are available to choose from. Not very many choices and is the 3D phone the choice of many people?

In conclusion the experience of 3D phone is similar to both of these phones, so the choice of which one to get is depends basically goes down to the mobile phone’s excellent software and hardware features. Each handset has its owns benefits and disadvantages but there is no major component that makes one phone to rise over the other one.

*3D Content

Even though some people thinks that 3D really litter, with the addition of the team Gizmondo(both in Australia and in USA) one loves its uniqueness. This will only proves that 3D phones still have extended time to go- if these do not die off easily before then- to be a very enjoyable experience. In viewing 3D material some people many times are not in the good condition to play around using these kinds of phones in 3D mode. With its glare that makes one difficult to see in the bright sunlight and it is really not ideal in these settings. It will be a good idea to get some screen matte protector for it- if one can find it.

Not like the HTC Evo 3D, this LG Optimus 3D allows one to make an adjustment in the depth of 3D in a photo. There are also other inconvenience is the unavoidable spectacle highlighting which is the 3D nature. And the most irritating of all was the 3D contents low resolution. This is because these phones have both sharp high resolution screens in 2D but if one will flick the 3d switch and everything becomes blurred results. And the Optimus 3D is only limited to 3MP 3D photos and the 3D camera of EVO 3D’s is only efficient for 2MP shots.

Optimus 3D gives a more 3D preloaded subject than the EVO 3D and does t in an automatic manner.  When holding the hot 3D key on the side right hand of this Optimus 3D comes up a 3D menu that provides one all of the device’s preinstalled 3D subject like the gallery, camera, games and You Tube 3D videos. But on the other hand in EVO 3D one must have to proceed into the menu apps and look for the 3D preloaded content that adds the Shift NFS, The Spide-Man 3D and the Sims 3.

*Hardware

Evryone are always a fan of HTC quality build and this EVO 3D is not an exception. These two phones are moderately heavy on the hand, and they are also very fat.  Both of these phones come with the awesome Gorilla glass.

While many may like the smooth back in the LG Optimus 3D, the HTC’s back that is textured and peculiar red ring to be great in its feel and looks. There is no difference at these two phones front looks. They have the same screen of 4.3 inch but the Optimus is a little bit wider and shorter than the EVO 3D. And the  screen resolution of  EVO 3D is a little bit higher with 540×950 while the LG has resolution of 480×800  that will result to bigger text size for less squinter reading.

Another major extraordinary difference among these two mobile phones if that the Optmus 3D gives HDMI output- although one needs BYO cable but the EVO 3D  falls short of this great feature.

Even when the EVO 3D is lacking the Optimus 3D hot key for quick accessing 3D subjects- it does not contain shutter hard button and toggle for switching from 2D to 3D mode when having photos taken. This is a great plus in regards to usage and also works great for those who love taking self photos.  In the Optimus 3D one has to rely on the buttons on screen for these things. Its volume for buttons ups and downs on the phone’s side allows one to zoom in and out on both phones but only when one is in the 2D mode.

The unique thing about LFG phone is its back and home buttons have swapped situations. There are only some Android phones that have the menu/home/back/search layout, but if one is used to the home/menu/back/search layout it is really a little awkward at the beginning. And the Optimus 3D’s backlight touch buttons turn off after a moment, making it an inconvenience while in the dark, but the EVO 3D’s touch buttons stat entirely back lighted all the time when one is using the phone, which should be done.

*Software

The reason why the HTC EVO 3D has a point higher than the LG Optimus 3D is the Gingerbread 2.3.4 Android. Gingerbread is assumed to be on the way for the latter but one does not know how long Optimus will get that.

The EVO 3D arrives with HTC’s Sense of 3.1 UI.  For the purpose of comparison the the Optimus 3D’s UI, the UI’s in the LG is not that bad in its simple abilities, and on the other hand the HTC’s Sense is more complicated and excellent.

One important thing about the LG Optimus 3D is its keyboard. When compared to the keyboard of HTC, the letters were have much better space and foreboding text automatic inserted spaces when a word is selected. And which is not the case with HTC that is the failure of Usability 101. And also are as great as SwiftKey X and Swype- which is Android’s great third- party keyboards.

The battery life of EVO 3D HTC came out to the top during the hands-on time and it has the larger battery between the two at 1730 mAh against the 1500mAh of Optimus 3D. Both of these phones lasted for almost a whole day, and conservative use of the 3D features did not seem to have too much influence on the life of battery.

*The Verdict

The LG Optimus 3D and the HTC EVO 3D are now going in the market as high level phone for the people, and if one is not looking for the contents and 3D features there are no 3D phones that can serve one efficiently.

But when one is more interested in 3D mobile gaming and content, the LG Optimus 3D and HTC EVO 3D arrives on top as it provides better experience with the use of Gingerbread, polished UI and faster processor. So if you will proceed with the 3D EVO one can be sure that the experience of 3D in LG Optimus 3D will be the same as the whole.

These two phones are offered for sale on a variety of plans from their individual carriers. Telstra offers HTC EVO 3D in $912, while Vodafone offers it lesser with $849. And Optus is having Optimus 3D for $799.
